More homes and opportunities for the Nor’West
Completion of the 500th home at Hobsonville Point is great news for families looking to embrace opportunities in the Nor’West, Upper Harbour MP Paula Bennett says.
“The Nor’West is one of the fastest growing parts of Auckland, and it’s because of developments like the one at Hobsonville bringing modern homes close to jobs, good schools and transport,” says Mrs Bennett.
“Hobsonville Point is New Zealand’s largest residential development, with a further 389 under construction and 920 sold. Large-scale projects like this will go a long way to alleviating pressure on Auckland’s housing supply.
“Upper Harbour has more than 8,500 businesses contributing over $4 billion to New Zealand’s Gross Domestic Product, so it’s crucial that people who want to work in the Nor’West have great choices about where to live. With the new Nor’West Town Centre and surrounding business growth, even more jobs and opportunities are opening up every day.”
Prime Minister John Key and Building and Housing Minister Nick Smith today visited the area to mark the milestone. They also launched the accelerated development of 540 properties in a joint venture between the Hobsonville Land Company and AV Jennings. These new homes will come on stream by 2017 and 30 per cent in the precinct will be priced below $550,000.
